Ofsted Inspection 30 April / 1 May 2013

The School was inspected by Ofsted on Tuesday 30 April and Wednesday 1 May 2013. The Report is available at: http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/inspection-reports/find-inspection-report/provider/ELS/11273 The overall judgement was that the School requires improvement and an Action Plan will be developed and implemented to ensure good progress across the School.


School Expansion

There is a shortage of school places in primary schools both nationally and in Derby. Along with a number of Derby schools, we have been asked to increase the number of children we admit each year into Reception from 60 to 90 pupils. Childcare for Two Year Olds

The Government has provided funding to allow around 20% of two year olds to have up to 10 hours of childcare during term time. Children gain eligibility through a range of benefits. Red Nose Day – 15 March 2013

“Red Nose Day” was on Friday 15 March. School participated in this fundraising event. Children and staff dressed up and there was a raffle plus cake sale. We are very pleased with the amount raised – £326.58. A big ‘Thank You’ to our parents.

Parent consultations were held week commencing 25 February.


Rammie

Rammie visited School on 23 January to lead an assembly.


Topic – Friends of the Earth

To launch “Friends of the Earth”, the new topic for the four classes in Key Stage 1 ( Koalas, Peacocks, Chameleons and Owls) the children took part in a “Wriggly Workshop”. The workshop was led by Zoo Lab and the children were encouraged to think about how different animals move before having the opportunity to see and handle various creatures, including rabbit, millipede and snake.


Christmas Parties

The Christmas Party for all pupils (except Nursery) will be held on Thursday, 20 December in the afternoon.   The Nursery Christmas Party – for both morning and afternoon pupils – will be held on Friday, 21 December at 9.45 until 11.45am. There will be no Nursery on Friday afternoon.
